Most of the insects, I take photographs of, are dead. Either I collect them mainly in fall, I get them from friends who collect them or I get samples from biologists from their collections.
Killing of insects
Very rarely I come upon insects which I decide to kill. I either douse them in a glass with some Ethylacetat (Essig-Äther) or I put them in the freezer. This is the way they go in fall.
Spyders, I put in the freezer for just a few hours. This immobilizes them (same as in nature). But a few hours later, they are “thaw” up and will go on their way.
